A conversation with… visits to local employers inform and inspire school careers staff

The OxLEP Skills Team are organising a series of professional development information sharing events for school staff, hosted by a variety of different employers across the county, aimed at broadening knowledge of jobs and careers in local organisations.

The ‘A conversation with…’ series gives careers leads, teachers and support staff the opportunity to visit a wide range of organisations and the chance to have ‘a conversation with’ staff there to find out all about career and Apprenticeship opportunities on offer for students. The aim is to help them feel better informed when advising their students and colleagues on options available locally.

A conversation with…Blenheim Palace

The next event will take place at Blenheim Palace on Tuesday 13 June from 10am to 12pm, where you will get the chance to hear about the exciting new Apprenticeships that are on offer in the rural team, operations, retail and catering. You’ll have the opportunity to hear a current Apprentice talking about her experience, find out about the framework and support on offer and round it off with a tour!

If you’d like to attend ‘A conversation with…Blenheim Palace’, please visit Eventbrite to book your place.

A conversation with…RAL Space

The first event in the series took place at RAL Space, where guests were given an introduction to RAL Space, a tour of the premises, information on career options for the sector and inspiration for the classroom. Attendees found it an informative and inspirational experience.

Steph Sherwood of Icknield Community College said: “Just a big thank you for today…. It was so inspiring both personally and in relation to all that I can take back to students. I have already been cascading key points in terms of what is happening at RAL, Apprentice programmes etc to students and the leadership team.”

Julia Ingham of Space Studio, Banbury said: “We really enjoyed our visit today and came away over flowing with ideas and resources to support our students. Thank you very much for organising this for us.”
