Our main aim is to support the creation of as many successful Apprenticeship starts in Oxfordshire as we can. We work with employers and training providers to promote their opportunities, and with schools to support careers events and interview preparation. We are also working with a number of organisations to help increase and promote Apprenticeship opportunities and take-up through funded projects.

Paddy Patterson of Maverish Ltd leads on Oxfordshire Apprenticeships' sponsorship of the 'Apprenticeship of the Year' category at both the Cherwell and the Oxfordshire Business Awards, which celebrate and give recognition to those employers who are successfully recruiting and supporting Apprentices as part of their workforce. This project will focus on providing Apprenticeship and Traineeship opportunities for young, disadvantaged and disabled people. The funding will be used to create a service which will identify young people struggling to gain employment. It will provide training and then broker Apprenticeship and Traineeship opportunities with employers (initially in the Logistics Sector). Young people will continue to receive support through their Apprenticeship or Traineeship programme and into employment.

ACE Training and Wain and Francis have joined forces on a combined project to focus on the construction industry. The project delivers activities to schools to promote construction Apprenticeships with a particular focus on geographical areas with significant planned housing developments. There will be a particular focus on inspiring girls to pursue careers in construction.
The 'Trade School' has been promoted to Secondary Schools in Oxfordshire. The 'Girls Allowed' project is focusing on creating new communications networks with a new web and social media campaign underway.

This project will deliver 10 taster sessions designed to inspire young people and raise awareness about Apprenticeships in STEM. The target audience will be those young people still at school and undecided about their future career path, and those individuals who are currently not in education, employment or training, who would like some guidance and information about possible routes forward.

This project involves raising awareness, with both employers and young people, of the opportunities for Apprenticeships for those with LDD. Yellow Submarine are tasked with running two awareness events and with creating a short film to highlight the benefits Apprenticehips can have for organisations and learners alike. As a result of this promotional work it is hoped 8 new Appenticeship starts will be created.

Career Connect promotes and raises awareness of Apprenticeships at business networking events across the County by sharing experiences, providing advice and connecting small businesses with the Oxfordshire Apprenticeships service.
This project provides the University with a resource to develop and promote an Apprenticeship programme through 78 internal departments. The project will embed processes to encourage employment of Apprentices into the University's recruitment process and will include activities to raise awareness and understanding of Apprentices with recruiting managers.

This project focuses on the creation of an Apprenticeships Training Agency (ATA). The ATA will provide a holistic package for apprentices with the necessary support and training. The ATA will focus on the Construction sector in Bicester in the first instance, but will eventually be expanded to include other sectors and geographical areas. The funding will get the ATA set up and it is expected that it will be sustainable financially as a self-funded project at the end of the funding period.

This project focuses on supporting those young people who expressed an interest in Apprenticeships whilst at school, but who do not appear on the Oxfordshire County Council post 16 tracking data as having started an Apprenticeship. These young people will be supported to find and apply for Apprenticeship vacancies. This project will focus particularly on vulnerable young people including care leavers and those with learning difficulties and/or disabilities. The project will also seek to understand why a proportion of those who intend to do an Apprenticeship are not successful, so that this intelligence can be used to plan provision and inform future support service improvements.

This project will include identifying and engaging with 200 SMEs in the retail, hospitality and catering, and health and social care sectors, to engage more employers in both Traineeships and Apprenticeships. The project will also provide 45 managers with a mentoring qualification so that they can support Trainees and Apprentices in the workplace.
