First ever Oxfordshire Apprenticeship Awards announced!
In his latest blog, Paddy Patterson of Maverish Ltd and founder of Oxfordshire Apprenticeships introduces the very first Oxfordshire Apprenticeship Awards.
It was a great relief this week when the date of National Apprenticeship Week 2017 was finally confirmed, as it means we can now announce that for the first time ever, there will be an Oxfordshire Apprenticeship Awards, with an inaugural awards ceremony on Wednesday 8th March 2017.
This of course isn’t our first foray into Apprenticeship awards, having sponsored the ‘Apprenticeship of the Year’ category at the Oxfordshire Business Awards (since 2014) and Cherwell Business Awards (since 2015). In that time we’ve met many fine local employers of Apprentices and it’s been a great pleasure to acknowledge those companies formally.
We’ve also been involved with promoting the best of local Apprentices through the annual National Apprenticeship Awards and we even did a ‘Night of Apprenticeship Champions’ with Oxford United back in 2013, on what was a memorable (but very cold for some of us!) evening during National Apprenticeship Week that year.
However, these new Oxfordshire Apprenticeship Awards will enable us to celebrate the best of our local Apprentices in a much bigger and better way, and recognise the huge contribution they make to our local economy across a wide number of organisations and sectors.
While the plan is to focus the awards on Apprentices themselves, we are also planning one or two awards for those who play a crucial role in inspiring people to consider and start an Apprenticeship, as well as those who support and guide them through the progamme.
We’re working hard now on finalising the venue, awards categories and process and there will be sponsorship opportunities available. We will be making further announcements in the coming weeks via oxfordshireapprenticeships.co.uk and through the weekly Oxfordshire Apprenticeships Hour (#OAHour) on Twitter @OxonApprentice, but in the meantime the message is to keep the 8th March 2017 free in your diaries and if you have any questions, thoughts or ideas on the Awards, please get in touch!
A huge thank you to Emma, 19, from B4 who designed the fantastic official Oxfordshire Apprenticeship Awards logo!
