Introducing The Apprenticeship & Training Company, Oxfordshire Apprenticeship Awards supporter
We are delighted to introduce The Apprenticeship & Training Company Ltd as a supporter of the Oxfordshire Apprenticeship Awards 2019. Find out why supporting the Awards is important to the Company...
Tell us about your organisation’s experience of Apprenticeships
We are Oxfordshire’s first and only ESFA-approved Apprenticeship Training Agency (ATA), awarded ATA status by the Skills Funding Agency in 2016. We are a not-for-profit company set up on behalf of Cherwell District Council.
An ATA employs Apprentices and place them with a host employer who pays for the service. This means that businesses who would like to employ an Apprentice but may not currently have enough work for a full time Apprentice can still offer placements. Apprentices can share their time between different employers, giving them the opportunity to learn the full range of skills required for their Apprenticeship.
We work with schools in the Cherwell area to raise awareness of Apprenticeships and help young people to prepare for the world of work. This includes 1:1 careers guidance and focussed careers projects with secondary school students and arranging 'Trade School' sessions for primary school students to get hands on with bricklaying and find out how the maths they learn in school is used when building a house!
Tell us why you’re supporting the Oxfordshire Apprenticeship Awards
Our Company values centre around supporting young people to achieve to their potential and we are pleased to be part of something that recognises the achievement of Oxfordshire's Apprentices. We recognise that ‘achievement’ is often relative to the individual and not always about ‘qualifications’, which is why we sponsored the Special Recognition Award last year.
We administer a bursary scheme on behalf of Sanctuary Housing and come into contact with young people who have significant issues that can challenge their progress, which makes their achievements all the more impressive.
What would you say to anyone thinking about entering or nominating?
Nominating an Apprentice for an Award is a fantastic way to show them that they're appreciated. It doesn't take long to complete the form - why not give just a bit of your time to give your Apprentice a pat on the back and make them feel great!
The Oxfordshire Apprenticeship Awards 2019 are open for entries and nominations until midnight on Friday 25th January. See the Awards page for details. Join us for Oxfordshire Apprenticeships Hour (#OAHour) from 1pm every Thursday for latest on the Awards and join in the conversation using the hashtag #OAAwards2019.
