Introducing Blake Morgan, Oxfordshire Apprenticeship Awards supporter

We are delighted to introduce Blake Morgan as a supporter of the Oxfordshire Apprenticeship Awards 2019. Blake Morgan is a large full-service commercial law firm with offices in Cardiff, London, Oxford, Portsmouth, Reading and Southampton.

Graduate Recruitment & Development Officer Siobhan Clarke explains why Apprenticeships are so important to the firm and why they're keen to champion the benefits of the Apprenticeship route into a career...

Tell us why you’re supporting the Oxfordshire Apprenticeship Awards

We would like to raise awareness of the benefits of doing an Apprenticeship, not only for those looking to go in to our business support functions but also those looking for a career in law.

We have found that there is a lack of awareness of the amazing opportunities now available to those who would like to qualify as a solicitor or work within a legal team. Most students/parents/schools we reach out too are still shocked that university is not the only option to qualify as a solicitor now!

We aim to have a firm with amazing home grown talent and so we hope our apprentices will just be starting their careers with us when they first join. Many of our previous Apprentices are now working towards higher qualifications or have moved in to other roles with much more responsibility. We are looking forward to having our own cohort of Solicitor Apprenticeships in the coming year!

Tell us about your organisation’s experience of Apprenticeships

We currently recruit Business Administration Apprentices in to our Oxford office (as well as our other offices) and have most recently expanded these Apprenticeships into our Legal teams, as well as our Business Support functions.

We have been an Oxfordshire Apprenticeship Awards supporter for the last two years and have previously won Apprentice Employer of the Year for Training in the Job Crowd Awards and came 15 in the Top 50 Apprentice employers which is an achievement we are extremely proud of!

We also have Apprenticeship Ambassadors within our regions who go out to local schools and colleges to give talks on the options and many benefits of completing an Apprenticeship.

Our Recruitment team have also partnered with the ISE to support Apprenticeships.

The Oxfordshire Apprenticeship Awards 2019 are open for entries and nominations until midnight on Friday 25th January. See the Awards page for details. Join us for Oxfordshire Apprenticeships Hour (#OAHour) from 1pm every Thursday for latest on the Awards and join in the conversation using the hashtag #OAAwards2019.
