Introducing Oxford Brookes, Oxfordshire Apprenticeship Awards sponsor

We are delighted to introduce Oxford Brookes University as a key sponsor of the Oxfordshire Apprenticeship Awards 2019. Oxford Brookes is one of the UK's leading modern universities and enjoys an international reputation for teaching excellence and innovation as well as strong links with business and industry. Clare McLening, Partnerships & Apprenticeships Manager at Oxford Brookes, explains why Apprenticeships are so important to the organisation and why they're keen to shout about Apprenticeship successes...

Tell us about your organisation’s experience of Apprenticeships

For over a decade Oxford Brookes University has worked in partnership with FE Colleges delivering vocational and part time HE provision including more recently higher level Apprenticeships.  The University has also become a registered Apprenticeship training provider and in September 2018 the first three Apprenticeship cohorts started; Architecture at level 7, Nursing Associate at level 5 and Advanced Clinical Practitioner at level 7 with over 100 Apprentices enrolled to date and a further cohort planned for a January 2019 start.

Although Brookes is concentrating on degree Apprenticeships to medium and large employers, the Associate College Partnership enables responding to the requirements of SMEs and the development of a coherent progression route for Apprentices from level 2 to 7.

Tell us why you’re supporting the Oxfordshire Apprenticeship Awards

Oxford Brookes University understands that the recent Apprenticeship reforms offer an opportunity to support regional growth and productivity strategies and therefore would like to be involved in raising the profile of the Apprenticeships route, especially at higher and degree level. We are keen to promote Apprenticeships as a credible route to continuing professional development. Being new to delivering Apprenticeships the University would like to raise its profile with both employers and Apprentices.

Apprentices make huge contributions in the work place and in the classroom. Apprenticeships offer a great opportunity for individuals to reach their full potential and for employers to develop talented people who will ultimately have an important positive impact on their business. To make an Apprenticeship work well you need a serious commitment from the Apprentice, the employer and the training provider - Oxford Brookes is sponsoring these awards in recognition of the commitment it takes from all parties make to ensure an Apprenticeship is a success.
