Meet The Skincare Clinic, Micro Apprenticeship Employer of the Year at the Oxfordshire Apprenticeship Awards
The Oxfordshire Apprenticeship Awards recognised the best talent in the county with a special virtual broadcast on Thursday 1st October 2020.
The Apprenticeship Employer of the Year Award (less than 10 employees) was won by The Skincare Clinic, a successful beauty salon in Witney that provides a high standard of service and treatments to clients. They work alongside their sister company, Oxford International College of Beauty, to provide Apprentices with some of the best training available for students.
Due to the collaboration with the Oxford International College of Beauty, Apprentices can enjoy the benefits of access to the outstanding support of the college team as well as the networking benefits of all the very best spa and beauty industry contacts worldwide. The majority of The Skincare Clinic's Apprentices start their journey in Year 10 when they join the salon for a work experience placement.
Salon Manager Emma Jones is a fantastic example of Apprenticeship progression, having started as an Apprentice with The Skincare Clinic herself 12 years ago. She said: "We are extremely proud to have won the first Micro Employer Award and will be proudly displaying it in our reception area. It is a pleasure to help Apprentices grow and to give them support from both the college and salon. With the government’s further support for Apprenticeship schemes, this will significantly help us to continue - especially in the current climate. Thank you for recognising us for this amazing award."
Current Apprentice Mia said: "The Skincare Clinic has been amazing at making me feel welcome and included around the salon. All staff have encouraged me also and have supported me if I need anything, whether it be to do with work or college, I feel that this is really helping me with my ambition of becoming a professional Beauty Therapist. Overall, I feel that The Skincare Clinic have already and will continue to support me however they are able to, to help me become an excellent Beauty Therapist."
The Apprenticeship Employer of the Year Award (less than 10 employees) award was kindly sponsored by University of Oxford Print Studio. Head of Shared Services at the University of Oxford Sarah Warden said: "On many levels The Skincare Clinic have demonstrated what a positive impact they have and will to continue to have in the field of Apprenticeships. For this reason we are delighted to name them the employer of the year in their category. Very well deserved."
