Meet Wellers, Large Apprenticeship Employer of the Year at the Oxfordshire Apprenticeship Awards

Wellers is a firm of accountants who work with entrepreneurs and private individuals to deliver quality advice and solutions that help them fulfil their aspirations. Passionate about people and their organisations, Wellers can draw upon 70 years experience to assist clients in growing their businesses and protecting their wealth in order to achieve their true potential. 

This unique approach to service delivery is something their clients refer to as Business Oxygen - integrated professional solutions and management tools bonded with the chemistry of a trusted relationship. Based in the South East, Wellers acts for over 3,000 clients from four offices covering Oxfordshire and London.

Wellers have been employing Apprentices since September 2015 and today Apprentices account for almost 20% of their 86-strong workforce. They employ Business Administration and Accountancy Apprentices, ranging from Level 2 to Level 4.

Apprentices receive exceptional mentoring and support and are given lots of opportunities to progress and develop through higher level Apprenticeships, a variety of internal training courses and learning through the experience of the senior colleagues who working closely with them.

Wellers were chosen as winners of the Large Apprenticeship Employer Award by sponsors Darke & Taylor because they are truly passionate about Apprenticeships. This is reflected in both the number of Apprentices they employ and how they are supported to progress through the firm, following a pathway carefully selected to suit their developing skills and interests.

Administrative Apprentice Aysha Alam (pictured below with Apprentice Payroll Assistant Patrick Roberts) says: “Wellers have given me many opportunities over the past 2 years. I have had constant support from not only my line manager but all my colleagues and the partners. Once I had finished my level 2 Apprenticeship, my manager and the partners encouraged me to do level 3 so I can expand my knowledge and have more qualifications.”

“The partners ensure that we all have annual reviews so we can look through progress and assess where we want to be in the next year. Wellers allowed me to decide which direction I wanted to go in then they provided me with appropriate objectives to achieve my goal. As my job role developed they provided me with suitable training whether this was in credit control or in company secretarial.”

“Wellers have a positive working environment which has been there since day one. Not only is everyone friendly but when help is needed, there is always someone to lend a hand. The partners also motivate staff by having great benefits such as team building activity days which allow us to interact with different people and experience new things.”
