Oxfordshire Apprenticeship Awards 2019 deadline extended
We are extending the deadline for Oxfordshire Apprenticeship Awards 2019 entries and nominations to give everyone a bit more time to get theirs in after the Christmas break. You now have until midnight on Friday 25th January to get those entries and nominations in! Everything you need to know is on our Awards page, including entry forms and eligibility criteria.
The third Oxfordshire Apprenticeship Awards will recognise the best talent in the county with a special presentation evening on Thursday 4th April 2019 at Jurys Inn Oxford.
There are four ‘Apprentice of the Year’ categories – Intermediate, Advanced, Higher and Special Recognition, for an Apprentice who has overcome significant challenges or barriers to learning or work, with an overall Oxfordshire Apprentice of the Year to be chosen from the winners. A special award will also be given to one of our Apprenticeship Ambassadors in recognition of exceptional commitment to our scheme.
A new category for this year - the Shining Star Award - has been introduced to recognise someone who has made outstanding progress in their career since completing their first Apprenticeship and has the potential to achieve even more.
Please encourage any star Apprentices (or former Apprentices) you know to enter, or nominate them – we know they can sometimes be a little shy about coming forward!
In addition to focusing on Apprentices themselves, the Awards also recognise schools, who play a crucial role in inspiring people to consider and start an Apprenticeship, as well as employers. There are two employer categories – small employer (<50 employees) and large employer (50+ employees) to celebrate and champion local employers who offer exceptional Apprenticeship schemes.
If you’re an Apprenticeship employer, don’t miss this opportunity to celebrate your successes and shout about what you do! Give yourself a pat on the back and set a great example of good practice to others.
Sponsor of the Apprenticeship Employer Award (<50 employees) Popham Hairdressing decided to sponsor the Award after winning it last year. Director Shirley Popham says: "Winning this prestigious award for Oxfordshire has brought a higher influx of Apprenticeship applications to the business and in general, a calibre of young people who are enthusiastic and committed to taking on an Apprenticeship. It has also brought clients and new business contacts though the award and so it’s our pleasure to sponsor the Apprenticeship Employer Award (<50 employees) category 2019."
We’re delighted to have the support of The UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) as our headline sponsor. Chief Operating Officer and former Apprentice David Martin wants to encourage people to enter or nominate to showcase the fantastic Apprenticeship schemes available in Oxfordshire. He says: “UKAEA is proud to sponsor the Oxfordshire Apprenticeship Awards 2019. Apprentices have always been a very important part of our strategy for training the next generation of engineers and technicians and more recently many other business disciplines. We are passionate about quality skills training that matches the demands of the employer, is delivered in a workplace context and sets young people on a fulfilling and rewarding career path. So we are delighted to be associated with awards that showcase the high standard of training and the achievements of talented Apprentices around the county.”
