Oxfordshire Apprenticeships Roadshow
From Tuesday 28th June to Saturday 2nd July, the Oxfordshire Apprenticeships team were out and about taking information and advice about Apprenticeships to 5 locations around the county. Our aim for the week was to promote Apprenticeships as an option to young people, parents and employers.
Stopping in Witney, Milton Park, Cowley, Bicester and Banbury, the team spoke to over 190 interested people, including 63 young people, 102 parents and 12 employers.
With Milton Park having an employer focus, various Milton Park-based training organisations, businesses and their Apprentices were on hand to talk about their schemes and current vacancies. Green Biologics Ltd is a renewable chemicals company focused on developing and delivering new green alternatives for everyday products based on the park. Current and former Apprentices at the company Karl (Business Admin) and Lewis (Lab Technician) and their manager Mohini, spent the morning with the Roadshow to promote opportunities at their company and in the science sector. Estel from their training provider CSR Group was also on hand alongside Richard and Rob from Qube Learning.
Five of our Apprenticeship Ambassadors were also available to talk about their experiences of being an Apprentice. Continuing with the science and engineering theme at Milton Park, Brad Eaton from Reaction Engines was able to speak about his Apprenticeship, how he has progressed within the company and how it has enabled him to undertake a part-time degree. Also joining the Roadshow were Charlotte Cox, Business Admin Apprentice with Oxfordshire Apprenticeships, Sophie Jamieson, Lab Technician Apprentice with the University of Oxford, Mel Haynes from the British Army and Emma Farrow, Legal Apprentice at Brethertons Llp.
