Vote for Rising Star Rebecca Godfrey in the National Apprenticeship Awards

We're delighted that Rebecca Godfrey, an Engineering Apprentice at Abbott Diabetes Care in Witney, will be flying the flag for Oxfordshire's Apprentices at the National Apprenticeship Awards 2019. She is a national finalist in the Lloyds Banking Group Rising Star of the Year Award.

This award recognises Apprentices who have made impressive progress in their career to date and who show the potential, through their Apprenticeship, to make it to the very top of their chosen profession.

Nine 'Rising Star' finalists were recognised during the regional ceremonies for their contributions and progression during their Apprenticeship. A public vote, along with the national judging panel, will select the winner, who will be announced during the national ceremony in London on 27th November. Voting is now open and will close at 5pm on Friday 18 October.

Rebecca is in her third year of an Advanced Engineering Apprentice at Abbott Diabetes Care in Witney. Through Apprenticeship rotations, she has gained confidence and a deeper understanding of the business. Developing effective communication skills has enabled Rebecca to communicate confidently at all levels from students to Vice Presidents. Shadowing support engineers and assisting them, she has developed a range of academic and practical skills from project management to completing an environmental systems refurbishment. She is a passionate STEM ambassador attending careers fairs, proactively promoting Apprenticeships, mentoring other Apprentices and is a core member of the company’s Schools Programme. Time management skills from Rebecca’s Apprenticeship have helped her to complete her gold DofE through the army cadet force where she volunteers.

Her employer, Abbott Diabetes Care, are sponsoring the Intermediate Apprentice of the Year Award at the Oxfordshire Apprenticeship Awards 2020.

We're keeping everything crossed for Rebecca at the national finals!
