Why did you choose to do an Apprenticeship?

I chose to do an Apprenticeship because I finished college and applied for university, but felt that I wasn’t ready to go and wasn’t sure what I wanted to do. I figured that I wanted to start working full time but I also really enjoy learning new skills so after looking into it further, I realised that an Apprenticeship would be the perfect combination.

How did you find out about your Apprenticeship?

I stumbled upon a website that listed all the Apprenticeships available in Oxfordshire and really liked the look of the one’s that the Oxford City Council was offering.

What have you gained from your Apprenticeship?

I have gained so much confidence since the start of my Apprenticeship. I am able to network with a variety of people and have developed my soft skills as well as the ones specific to my job. My Apprenticeship has given me an insight into the different opportunities available to me in the work place and it has allowed me to gain lots of new and different experiences.

What do you plan to do next?

I aim to finish my Apprenticeship and gain a qualification in Business Administration. I am still currently looking into options available to me after my Apprenticeship is complete.

How will your Apprenticeship help you achieve this?

My Apprenticeship has allowed me to study a NVQ Level 3 Business Administration Course which I hope to pass in September 2017. There are also chances for me to shadow certain parts of the Council and my Apprenticeship allows to me see what goes on across the organisation.

What advice would you give a young person who might be thinking about an Apprenticeship?

I highly recommend Apprenticeships to young people as they are a great way of developing new skills, especially if you are not sure what career path you want. You can gain so many useful skills that can be applied to any job and the opportunities available are fantastic.

What’s your top tip?

My top tip would be to take every opportunity you get given. You never know when it might help you.

How do you feel about becoming an Apprenticeship Ambassador?

I feel excited to see what the role entails and hope I will be able to help other young people looking at Apprenticeships and careers.
