Advice on a new career for the New Year at Abingdon ApprenticeSHOP

Our latest pop-up ‘ApprenticeSHOP’ opened in Abingdon during the Christmas break with information and advice for anyone thinking about starting an Apprenticeship or employing an Apprentice in the New Year.

The Friends of Abingdon – the town’s civic society – kindly allowed us to use the Community FreeSpace in Bury Street, which is available free of charge to local community groups. Our ApprenticeSHOP opened on Thursday 29th and Friday 30th December from 10am-3pm.

The shop was visited by 9 young people, 11 parents and 5 others interested in finding out about Apprenticeships, including someone who works with young people at a local charity and grandparents who wanted some information for 3 of their grandchildren.

Emma is currently in Year 13 and came in to the shop to explore options for Apprenticeships working with children for when she finishes her A Levels.

Liam is currently looking for an Apprenticeship in web design and popped in for some advice on the applications he is preparing.

We also spoke to young people interested in events management and vehicle mechanics among other things and advised parents on opportunities in science & engineering and options for a young person with additional needs.

All our customers valued the opportunity to talk through options and have information and advice about Apprenticeships available locally.
