Tell us why you’re supporting the Oxfordshire Apprenticeship Awards

Integration Technology have been a long-time supporter not only of the Oxfordshire Apprenticeships Awards but of Apprenticeships in general. We have always looked at Apprenticeships as a means of recruitment and have rolled out various programmes over the years. Our CEO Adrian Lockwood is a former Apprentice and very proud to be one. He is also Chair of the Oxfordshire Skills Board and so passionate about supporting young people to start a successful career and also encouraing local businesses to see how Apprenticeships can help them meet their skills requirements.

The Shining Star Award and its criteria fits the ethos Integration Technology promotes around Apprenticeships.

Tell us about your organisation’s experience of Apprenticeships

As with many businesses in Oxfordshire, we struggle to recruit staff with the right skills. Over 10 years ago we implemented a strong internal vocational training programme to both better train recruits into the business and to up-skill existing staff, to meet the needs of an ever changing world. Through this programme, two younger members of staff have so far gained degrees in addition to many level 1, 2 & 3 qualifications gained by other staff.

We participate in various careers and enterprise activities with local schools, businesses and wider community, mentoring and championing the Oxfordshire Apprenticeship programme. We advise young people on their career choices and ensure they understand the value added an Apprenticeship can give them and why businesses offer them.

We also meet regularly with the business community and mentor them on how to implement successful Apprenticeship programmes.

The Oxfordshire Apprenticeship Awards 2019 are open for entries and nominations until midnight on Friday 25th January. See the Awards page for details. Join us for Oxfordshire Apprenticeships Hour (#OAHour) from 1pm every Thursday for latest on the Awards and join in the conversation using the hashtag #OAAwards2019.
