Oxfordshire Apprenticeship Awards 2020

The fourth annual Oxfordshire Apprenticeship Awards are now open for entries and nominations! The Awards ceremoney will be held on Thursday 2nd April at the prestigious Williams F1 Conference Centre. Would you like to be part of this special event? There are lots of opportunities to get involved as a sponsor or supporter. Email skills@oxfordshirelep.com for details.

Forms are available to download below. Completed entries and nominations must be returned by email to skills@oxfordshirelep.com by midnight on Monday 13th January 2020. Please note: you don't need to complete both a nomination and entry form, just one depending on whether you are nominating an Apprentice or entering yourself as an Apprentice.

Intermediate Apprentice of the Year - sponsored by Abbott Diabetes Care

This Award is for Apprentices living or working in Oxfordshire who have completed a minimum of 9 months of their current Level 2 Apprenticeship by the closing date (i.e. started their Apprenticeship on or before 13th April 2019), or have completed a full Apprenticeship no more than 12 months before the closing date (i.e. completed on or after 13th January 2019).

Advanced Apprentice of the Year – sponsored by Nielsen

This Award is for Apprentices living or working in Oxfordshire who have completed a minimum of 9 months of their current Level 3 Apprenticeship by the closing date (i.e. started their Apprenticeship on or before 13th April 2019), or have completed a full Apprenticeship no more than 12 months before the closing date (i.e. completed on or after 13th January 2019).

Higher/Degree Apprentice of the Year - sponsored by Blenheim

This Award is for Apprentices living or working in Oxfordshire who have completed a minimum of 9 months of their current Level 4 or above Apprenticeship by the closing date (i.e. started their Apprenticeship on or before 13th April 2019), or have completed a full Apprenticeship no more than 12 months before the closing date (i.e. completed on or after 13th January 2019).

Special Recognition Award – sponsored by Popham Hairdressing

This Award is for an Apprentice who has achieved in overcoming significant challenges or barriers to learning or work. Apprentices must have completed a minimum of 9 months of their current Apprenticeship by the closing date (i.e. started their Apprenticeship on or before 13th April 2019), or have completed a full Apprenticeship no more than 12 months before the closing date (i.e. completed on or after 13th January 2019).

Apprenticeship Ambassador Award – sponsored by Oxford Brookes University

To be given to one of the Oxfordshire Apprenticeship Ambassadors in recognition of outstanding commitment and achievement.

Shining Star Award - sponsored by Integration Technology

This Award is for someone who has made outstanding progress in their career since completing their first Apprenticeship and has the potential to achieve even more. They must have completed their first Apprenticeship at least 9 months and no more than 10 years before the closing date (i.e. completed between 13th January 2009 and 13th April 2019). 

School Award – sponsored by Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

This Award is for an Oxfordshire secondary schools that make a significant contribution to promoting Apprenticeships to students as a viable and credible post-16 option, as part of a wide ranging and inclusive careers programme. Open to all secondary schools based in Oxfordshire. 

Work Experience Employer of the Year Award - sponsored by OxLEP Skills

This Award is for organisations that offer high quality, meaningful work experience placements. Must have management autonomy in Oxfordshire, provide work experience placmenets for people that live in Oxfordshire and provided work experience placements for at least 12 months before the closing date (i.e. from at least 13th January 2019).

Apprenticeship Employer Award (<10 employees) - sponsored by University of Oxford Print Studio

This Award is for organisations with less than 10 employees. Must have management autonomy in Oxfordshire, employ Apprentices that work in Oxfordshire and have employed Apprentices for at least 12 months before the closing date (i.e. from at least 13th January 2019).

Am I eligible to enter?

How do I enter?

To enter or nominate for an award, you must download and complete the relevant application form and return it via email, along with the appropriate endorsements, to skills@oxfordshirelep.com by midnight on Monday 13th January 2020.

What are the timescales?

Once the Awards have closed to entries, the category sponsors will assess the applications and carry out visits to entrants. A judging meeting will take place on Tuesday 25th February to agree the finalists in each category, who will be announced during Oxfordshire Apprenticeships Hour (#OAHour) on Twitter from 1pm on Thursday 5th March, during National Careers Week. Winners will be announced at the Awards Ceremony, which will take place in the evening of Thursday 2nd April at Williams F1 Conference Centre. Make sure you keep the date free!
