Oxfordshire Apprenticeship Awards

We are delighted that the third Oxfordshire Apprenticeship Awards will be held at Jurys Inn Oxford on Thursday 4th April 2019. Details of the categories and entry / nomination forms are available to download in Word format below. See also the Awards eligibility citeria for further details. The deadline for entries and nominations is midnight on Friday 18th January 2019. 

Intermediate Apprentice of the Year - sponsored by Darke & Taylor

This Award is for Apprentices living or working in Oxfordshire who have completed a minimum of 9 months of their current Level 2 Apprenticeship by the closing date (i.e. started their Apprenticeship on or after 19th April 2018), or have completed a full Intermediate Apprenticeship no more than 12 months before the closing date (i.e. completed on or after 19th January 2018).

Advanced Apprentice of the Year – sponsored by Clarkson Evans

This Award is for Apprentices living or working in Oxfordshire who have completed a minimum of 9 months of their current Level 3 Apprenticeship by the closing date (i.e. started their Apprenticeship on or after 19th April 2018), or have completed a full Advanced Apprenticeship no more than 12 months before the closing date (i.e. completed on or after 19th January 2018).

Higher Apprentice of the Year - sponsored by High Spec Composites

This Award is for Apprentices living or working in Oxfordshire who have completed a minimum of 9 months of their current Higher Apprenticeship by the closing date (i.e. started their Apprenticeship on or after 19th April 2018), or have completed a full Higher Apprenticeship no more than 12 months before the closing date (i.e. completed on or after 19th January 2018).

Special Recognition Award – sponsored by Blenheim

This Award is for an Apprentice who has achieved in overcoming significant challenges or barriers to learning or work. Apprentices must have completed a minimum of 9 months of their current Apprenticeship by the closing date (i.e. started their Apprenticeship on or after 19th April 2018), or have completed a full Apprenticeship no more than 12 months before the closing date (i.e. completed on or after 19th January 2018).

Shining Star Award - sponsored by Integration Technology

This Award is for someone who has made outstanding progress in their career since completing their first Apprenticeship and has the potential to achieve even more. They must have completed their first Apprenticeship at least 9 months and no more than 10 years before the closing date (i.e. completed between 19th January 2008 and 19th April 2018).

Apprenticeship Employer Award (<50 employees) - sponsored by Popham Hairdressing

This Award is for organisations with less than 50 employees. Must have management autonomy in Oxfordshire, employ Apprentices that work in Oxfordshire and have employed Apprentices for at least 12 months before the closing date (i.e. from at least 19th January 2018).

Apprenticeship Employer Award (50+ employees) - sponsored by Barclays

This Award is for organisations with 50 or more employees. Must have management autonomy in Oxfordshire, employ Apprentices that work in Oxfordshire and have employed Apprentices for at least 12 months before the closing date (i.e. from at least 19th January 2018).

School Award – sponsored by The Careers & Enterprise Company

The winner of this Award will be chosen by The Careers & Enterprise Company from Oxfordshire secondary schools that make a significant contribution to promoting Apprenticeships to students as a viable and credible post-16 option, as part of a wide ranging and inclusive careers programme.

Apprenticeship Ambassador Award – sponsored by OxLEP

To be given to one of the Oxfordshire Apprenticeship Ambassadors in recognition of outstanding commitment and achievement.

Oxfordshire Apprentice of the Year Award – sponsored by headline sponsors UKAEA

To be chosen by the headline sponsor from the winners of the other Apprentice Award categories.

Q&A

Am I eligible to enter?

The Apprentice Awards are open to Apprentices living or working in Oxfordshire who have completed a minimum of 9 months of a Education & Skills Funding Agency–funded and recognised Apprenticeship by the closing date (i.e. started their Apprenticeship on or after 19th April 2018), or have completed a full Apprenticeship no more than 12 months before the closing date (i.e. completed on or after 19th January 2018). See the Awards eligibility criteria for full details about all the categories, including the endorsements you will require as part of your entry.

How do I enter?

To enter or nominate for an award, you must download and complete the relevant application form and return it via email, along with the appropriate endorsements, to skills@oxfordshirelep.com by midnight on Friday 18th January 2019.

What are the timescales?

Once the Awards have closed to entries, the category sponsors will assess the applications and carry out visits to entrants. A judging meeting will take place on Tuesday 5th March to agree the finalists in each category, who will be announced during Oxfordshire Apprenticeships Hour (#OAHour) on Twitter from 1pm on Thursday 7th March, during National Apprenticeship Week. Winners will be announced at the Awards Ceremony, which will take place in the evening of Thursday 4th April at Jurys Inn Oxford. Make sure you keep the date free!
